Sometimes a single full-screen image or video isn’t enough to convey your message. The updated Digital Signage Solutions (DSA) Cloud interface offers a powerful Template builder, allowing you to segment your screens into multiple distinct “Zones” to display a variety of content simultaneously.
In this tutorial, we will walk you through the first phase of creating a custom Template. You will learn how to initialize a new layout, apply a custom background color or image, and navigate the Layout Editor. We will also cover how to adjust your screen aspect ratio and precisely define the size and position of each individual content Zone.
Custom Backgrounds: Choose a solid background colour or browse your media gallery to set a custom image as the foundational layer of your layout.
Pre-Built Layouts: Quickly select from a variety of pre-configured zone arrangements to get a head start on your design.
Flexible Sizing Options: Set your overall screen size and ratio using standard presets (like Landscape 16:9 or Portrait 9:16) or define a completely custom resolution in pixels.
Precision Zone Editing: Adjust the exact dimensions and positions of your content zones by entering specific percentage or pixel values, or by visually dragging the free transform points.
Zone Management: Easily duplicate existing zones, add brand new ones, or delete unnecessary sections to build the perfect arrangement for your screens.
Step 1: Initializing Your Layout
Navigate to Templates: From your DSA Cloud dashboard, select the Templates tab from the top navigation menu.
Create New: Click the green + Create Template button on the left side of the screen and select New.
Name Your Template: In the “Add Template” view, enter a descriptive title into the Template Name text box.
Set a Background: Use the Template Background dropdown to customize your canvas. You can select a solid color, or select Image and click Browse to choose an image directly from your media gallery. Select your desired image and click Add.
Choose a Starting Layout: Under the “Available Layouts” section, click on one of the pre-configured zone arrangements that best matches your vision.
Enter the Editor: Click the Edit Layout button to begin customizing your selected zones. (Note: Clicking Save Layout will skip the editing phase and take you straight to adding media).
Step 2: Customizing Zones in the Layout Editor
Set Screen Ratio: In the top right corner of the Layout Editor, ensure your Set Screen Size/Ratio matches your physical display (e.g., Landscape 16:9). You can also select + Custom Size to manually enter the exact Width and Height in pixels.
View Zone Data: Use the toggle buttons at the top of the “Zone Information” panel to view your zone dimensions in either Percentages (%) or Pixels (PX).
Adjust Zones Manually: You can type precise numerical values into the Width, Height, X, and Y fields within the Zone Information panel to resize and reposition a specific zone.
Adjust Zones Visually: Alternatively, you can click and drag a Zone on the canvas to move it, or click and drag the free transform points on the edges of a Zone to resize it manually.
Add, Duplicate, or Delete: * To add a brand new section, click + Add Zone at the top of the screen.
To copy an exact size, select an existing zone and click + Duplicate Zone. The copy will appear directly on top of the original, ready to be dragged into a new position.
To remove a section, select it and click the red Trash icon in the top right, then click Yes to confirm.
Save Your Layout: Once you are happy with your zone arrangement, click the green Save button in the bottom right corner. This will apply your changes and advance you to the Template Editor where you can begin adding media.
