Now that you have built a custom layout with distinct zones, it’s time to fill those zones with engaging content. The updated Digital Signage Solutions (DSA) Cloud interface allows you to build unique playlists for every individual zone within your template.
In this tutorial, we will walk you through editing a template, adding media and widgets to specific zones, and previewing the final result. You will also learn how to push your finished template directly to your live players and request a real-time screenshot to confirm your content is displaying correctly.
Zone-Specific Playlists: Click on any defined zone to manage a dedicated playlist specifically for that section of the screen.
Rich Media Integration: Populate your zones with a mix of standard media, nested subplaylists, and dynamic widgets (like clocks or RSS feeds).
Live Template Preview: Use the built-in preview tool to see exactly how all your zones will play and interact together before pushing them live.
Direct Publishing: Send your finished template to one or multiple players instantly using the “Send to Player” function.
Remote Screenshot Verification: Remotely request a live screenshot from your active players to verify that the template is displaying properly on the physical screen.
Step 1: Adding Content to Your Template Zones
Access the Template Editor: From the Templates tab, select the template you want to edit from the Available Templates list. Your selected template will appear in the preview panel. Click the Template Editor button in the top right.
Select a Zone: Click on a specific Zone within the layout visualizer. The selected Zone’s empty playlist will appear in the editing area below.
Add Content: Click the green + Add button to add content to the selected zone. You can choose Add Media (for images and video), Add Widget, or Add Subplaylist.
Configure Parameters: Select the desired items from your library, set their specific playlist parameters (like display duration), and click Ok to add them to the zone’s playlist.
Repeat for All Zones: Continue to populate each Zone’s playlist with content until your Template is complete.
Step 2: Previewing and Saving
Preview Your Template: Click the Preview button near the top right to see how your playlist will appear with all zones running together.
Save Changes: Once you are satisfied with your layout, click the green Save button in the top right to finish editing your Template.
Step 3: Sending to Players and Verifying
Send to Player: From the template preview screen, click the Send to Player button to assign your Template to one or more players. Check the boxes next to the players you want to update, then click the green Send to Selected button.
Verify via Screenshot: To check how a player is displaying the template you sent it, navigate to the Location & Players tab. Click the Player Management (cog) icon for the relevant player. In the menu on the left, select the Screenshot tab, then click the Request Screenshot button to see a live capture of your screen.
