4. How to Manage and Schedule Playlists and Assign to Display

Now that you know how to build a basic playlist, it’s time to learn how to refine and schedule your content. The updated Digital Signage Solutions (DSA) Cloud interface makes it incredibly simple to adjust your active playlists on the fly.

In this tutorial, we will explore how to manage your existing playlists. You will learn how to quickly reorder your media list, remove outdated content, and replace items directly from your gallery.

Playlist Features

  • Drag-and-Drop Reordering: Easily change the sequence of your media by clicking and dragging the lines icon next to any item.

  • Quick Media Replacement: Use the replacement tool to swap out selected media with other images, videos, or subplaylists from your gallery in just a few clicks.

  • Bulk Editing Options: Save time by selecting multiple media items and clicking the cog icon to adjust their settings simultaneously.

  • Robust Scheduling Tools: Choose whether your media will run on a continuous schedule or run only once at a specific time and date. You can also dictate when the media stops appearing with an “Ends At” date, specify a “Time Window” for daily playback, or set up a “Recurrence pattern”.

  • Conditional Play: Ensure your content is perfectly timed by setting specific conditions that must be met before the media is allowed to play. Available conditions include specific Location Name(s), custom Triggers, Weather states, and Weather Temperatures.

Step-by-Step Guide: Managing and Scheduling a Playlist

Step 1: Organizing Your Playlist

  1. Access Your Playlist: First, select the Playlist tab from the main navigation menu. Then, select the specific playlist you want to manage from the list of Available Playlists on the left.

  2. Reorder Media: To change the playback sequence, find the horizontal lines icon next to a media item. Click and drag these lines to move the media up or down the list.

  3. Remove Media: If you need to delete an item, select the media’s checkbox and click the red trashcan icon. A prompt will appear asking “Do you really want to delete the Media?”; click Yes to confirm.

  4. Replace Media: To quickly swap an item, select the media and click the double-arrow “Replace” icon located near the top right. You can choose to replace the item with either media or a subplaylist. Choose your new item from the gallery view and click the green Replace button.

Step 2: Advanced Media Settings and Scheduling

  1. Open Settings: You can adjust the parameters of a single item or multiple media items simultaneously. Select the checkboxes next to the items you want to modify, then click the cog icon to open the Edit Media Settings window.

  2. Basic Scheduling: By default, media is set to run on a Scheduler starting on a specific date. If you only want the media to show one time, select the Run Once bubble and input a specific date and time.

  3. Advanced Time Parameters: Under the Scheduler option, you can assign an Ends At date and time for the media to automatically stop appearing. You can also assign a specific Time Window for the content to display within, or establish a Recurrence Pattern.

  4. Conditional Play: For more precise targeting, check the Conditional Play box. This allows you to choose conditions that must be met before this specific media will play. You can set triggers based on Location Name(s), manual Triggers, general Weather, or Weather Temperature.

  5. Save Changes: Once all your scheduling and conditional parameters are set, remember to click Ok at the bottom of the window to apply your changes.
